“Old Carolina” in Photos

The First Annual “Old Carolina” Photography show opened this week and is not to be missed. Over 20 artists from around the region have brought their photographic interpretation of “Old Carolina” to Falling Rivers Gallery to show us some of the impressive sights and historical places in our state.  Even with a common theme, the entries are varied and there is something that everyone will enjoy in the show.

Our first place winner is Judy Ferree for her entry “Old House in Snow”. She takes home our first place prize of $500. Congratulations Judy!

Second Place goes to Cyndi Savage for her photo, “Historic Yates Mill”. Congratulations to Cyndi, who walks away with $300 for her entry.

Our third place prize of $200 goes to Cindy Poole for her entry, “Prison Guard House.” Congratulations to Cindy!

We also awarded ribbons for four honorable mentions – Reda Icenhour for “Pisgah Covered Bridge”, R. Wayne Wrights for “Mingus Mill”, Heather Ferguson for “1918 Legend” and Betty Dixon for “Spinning Light”.

We still have one more award to give for Member’s Choice, which will be announced at the Artist’s  Reception on February 15th. Everyone is invited to the reception so make your plans now. This also is the last day of the show. So stop by soon and find your favorite image of “Old Carolina” before they are all gone!

Thanks again to all the individuals and merchants who donated money to sponsor this show. Thanks to our judges from the Stanly County Historical Society for lending their expertise in identifying great representations of Old Carolina. And a special thanks to Rodney Rock, whose passion, dedication and hard work made this show possible.
