June Happenings at FRG

Welcome To Mystery!

There is a lot going on in June at Falling Rivers Gallery. We are hosting our first-ever fundraising event on June 17th for the Stanly Arts Guild. The “Welcome to Mystery Gala Event and Auction” promises to be a spectacular evening of food, entertainment and mystery. The evening is based on a Steampunk theme, with the Stanly Arts Guild members dressing in costume and decorations following a steampunk theme.

Many artists and local merchants have donated items for our silent auction so there will be lots of things to bid on. All proceeds support the Stanly Arts Guild mission to support the visual arts and artists in Stanly County.

Father’s Day

As always, we have a great selection of gifts for Father’s Day. From card holders to office decor to jewelry to cool stuff for his man-cave, there is something for every dad. We have barbecue sauce, bowls and utensils for dads who cook, stained glass for dads who stare out the window and kaleidoscopes for dads who dream. And Rodney Rock is offering 25% off his framed photography through Father’s Day.

Summer Art Explosion

Summer Art Explosion is coming up. The show opens July 11th with art take-in on July 7th and 8th. Artists can enter up to four pieces in any of four categories. Check out the art show prospectus for more information. We are looking froward to seeing your art in our show!

Nature At Its Best Art Show

The Ninth Annual Nature at Its Best Art Show is underway at Falling Rivers Gallery and it is one of the best shows yet. Thirty-four artists from Stanly and surrounding counties submitted 61 nature-themed pieces – including bronze sculpture, stained glass, acrylics, watercolor, photography, mixed media, and quilling.

And the winners are:

First place – Roger Martin for ‘The Visitor”  (bronze sculpture)
Second Place – Rodney Rock  for “Tricolor Heron” (photography)
Third Place – Dorothy Gibson for “Beauty in Nature” (paper quilling)
Honorable Mentions were awarded to:
  • Ed Lipe for “Filling the Cellar” (photography)
  • Karen Barbee for “Creative Blur at Oakboro Park” (photography)
  • Cindi Poole for “Pastel Jewels” (photography)
  • Lorrie Hatley for “We’re Watching You” (mixed media)

Stop by the Falling Rivers Gallery before April 29th and check out the art show. We are having a closing reception on April 29th to celebrate the show and hand out awards. The reception is open to the public, so please join us.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the artists who made our art show a success. And a special thanks to the Gaskin brothers for sponsoring the show to honor their Mother’s love of nature and art.
